Point: A Geometric Table Lamp Inspired by the Ideal Order

A Unique Light Sculpture by Impress Design

The Point table lamp, designed by Impress Design, draws inspiration from the geometric entity of a circle. This sleek and elegant lamp captures the essence of the circle's visual expression, creating a feeling of clarity and order. The designers aimed to convey a sense of calm and harmony through the lamp's specific language of form.

The Point collection consists of two table lamp formats, each utilizing high-efficiency LED strips to create both direct and indirect light. These elements combine to form a truly unique light sculpture. The lamp's design is characterized by its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic, making it a perfect addition to any modern interior.

The lamp is crafted using three layers of 10mm thick plexiglass, with two black elements on the outer surface and a transparent, hollow element in the center. The central element houses a double strip of LEDs, illuminating both the inside and outside of the circle. All components of the lamp are laser-cut and meticulously assembled to achieve the desired lighting effect.

The Point table lamp is available in two sizes, with a radius of either 30cm or 40cm. This versatility allows for customization and ensures that the lamp can fit seamlessly into various spaces and design schemes.

Impress Design, led by Maria Lucia Colletti and Cristina Paladini, embarked on the concept of the Point table lamp in August 2014. The initial design was presented at the Maker Faire in Rome's European edition in September of the same year. Engineering development and production commenced shortly after and were completed by early October.

The design process for the Point lamp involved extensive research and experimentation with modern LED technology. The challenge was to create a functional object that also served as a captivating light sculpture. Impress Design successfully combined cutting-edge technology with artistic vision to achieve this goal.

The Point table lamp has received recognition for its outstanding design and innovation. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2015. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the lamp's exceptional craftsmanship, technical excellence, and ability to evoke positive emotions in its viewers.
